Reprice the Whole Book Without Touching Live Quoting: Akur8's Rating Jobs

Repricing an entire book of policies is a delicate balancing act for insurance carriers. Actuaries finalize new rate structures, IT manages the massive data push, and everyone holds their breath, hoping live quoting channels remain uninterrupted. The pressure peaks during renewal season, when high data volumes, late-stage validation errors, and competition for shared server capacity can turn what should be a routine update into a high-stakes operational scramble.

Akur8's Rating Job solution, integrated directly into the Deploy rating engine, removes that operational risk entirely. It enables high-volume portfolio rating on dedicated infrastructure, completely isolated from live quoting, so carriers can reprice entire books of business with speed, safety, and confidence.

Insurance policy Rating Jobs are integrated directly into Akur8 Deploy.

‍Consolidated Batching for High-Volume Workloads

Forget throttling individual API calls or stitching together piecemeal streams. Portfolio-wide re-rates call for a different approach, and Rating Job is designed for exactly that. It processes entire books of business in a single unified run, then delivers clean, consolidated result files ready for downstream analysis, reporting, and operational execution.

Rating Job does not replace your live rater. It runs alongside it on separate infrastructure, so a large portfolio job and a single customer quote use separate resources.

How Rating Jobs Work

Submit the whole portfolio in one request, and Deploy handles the processing in the background on infrastructure fully isolated from live quoting, so policyholders and agents never feel the load.

There’s no need to split files, build throttling logic, or schedule jobs outside business hours. Job status is available through the API, so your integration can track a run to completion and pull the results as soon as they’re ready.

Before any rating starts, Deploy validates the whole file, so a malformed row is caught up front instead of surfacing deep into a long job. If individual policies fail along the way, each one comes back tagged with a clear reason while the rest of the run finishes.

In practice: an insurer needs to reprice a 600,000-policy auto book ahead of renewal season. The actuarial team exports the portfolio and starts a single batch job mid-afternoon without the need to ask IT to manage traffic. It runs on dedicated infrastructure while agents keep quoting at full speed, unaffected. A handful of records with a formatting problem are flagged in the validation pass and fixed before anything is rated. In less than an hour, the results will be ready for download — every policy rated on exactly the same engine the live API uses, with no separate model version and nothing to reconcile.

More Than a Renewal Tool

Because Rating Job and live quoting run on the same rating logic, a policy rated in a batch run produces exactly the same result as it would through a live call. That prevents discrepancies between renewal offers and quotes, and there’s no separate model version to maintain. It also makes Rating Job valuable well beyond renewals, from rate impact studies to testing proposed changes against the full book. The job that reprices an in-force book can also score a candidate rate plan against a large dataset. Run it in UAT against, say,  200,000 policies, either through the API or directly from the platform, then download and review the results. That way, you only promote rates to production once their impact matches what you expected. And because UAT and production run on the same engine, the rates you signed off on are exactly the rates that go live.

What It Means for Your Team

The payoff depends on where you sit:

  • Actuarial Leaders: Reprice entire portfolios or model candidate rate plans against massive historical datasets independently, without waiting for IT availability or release windows.
  • IT & Architecture Teams: Build one integration for batch rating that keeps live production systems protected and removes the need to manage capacity by hand.
  • Executives & Business Leaders (CIOs/CUOs): Run renewal cycles with confidence, knowing data is validated before processing begins and live quoting is isolated from the load.

One Platform, From Pricing to Production

The real value of Rating Job isn’t just speed; it’s what it takes off the table, Repricing a portfolio no longer has to be a balancing act against protecting the live quoting your business runs on. Pricing decisions, large-scale rating, and the live rater all sit in one platform, on infrastructure built to keep them out of each other's way.
